NEW THINGS!!!

Exposed
by: Brynn Gilbreath

Pensive silence, leery of what's to come
Will the truth be a demon?
Will it cause a stir?
The demons emerge, slinking from the shadows

The past, the haunting issues,
an overwhelming chill
breaks the air
in a room that had been so lighthearted

Its swarming around, engulfing
dark and shadowy
binding chains but
throwing it all away and becoming naked

Exposed for the world to see
to judge, to betray, to hurt
Trusting, hoping, great faith
shivering in the naked cold

Please be faithful
embrace me and my past
its unchanging, part of my soul
accept my wholly

You are a strength
a rock in my mountain
Possibly a cornerstone
for my emotional mind

An orchestra plays
grandiose melodies of acceptance
freeing, bearing part of the load
a wave of relief

You're uplifting
a radiant sunshine
bursting through the clouds
on a dreary day

Ive become exposed to you
naked and without walls
Be strong, be trustworthy
be a grandiose orchestra.

Open and Bleeding
by: Brynn Gilbreath

Do my words make a difference
As i pour my heart onto the page
Im open and bleeding
the deepest parts of my being

Its release, a calming freedom
allowing my mind to wander where it will
Painting a picture through language
with vivid colors, otherwise inexpressible

Its anger and fury, mad rage
permitting my thunderous emotions
to burn and flood and torment
the rainbow the world tries to paint

Its wind, a mountain peace
Its fire, a burning hell
Its passion, a lovers warm body
Its nothing, a deep emptiness

Belittled, yet exalted
held close but pushed away
embraced ideas but judged thoughts
make up your mind

Do my words make a difference
as I pour my heart onto the page?
I'm open and bleeding,
open and bleeding

another old one.....
Heart Story
by Brynn Gilbreath

Thank you for all the things
which i do not deserve
I opened your heart as well as my own
then threw you for a curve
you trusted me, I fell for you
though it scared me out of my mind
we spun around in pure euphoria
not quite sure what we'd find
I fell so hard but so confused
I did not want to have to choose
My heart pulled me and ripped in half
I didnt know how to feel
Then I moved on and know you too
have found someone whos love is real.
It still gives me pain and still causes grief
but as long as your happy
I feel some relief.

an old one from 1997

Her Silent Thunder
by Brynn GIlbreath

Her fears are silent thunder
Her emotions bolts of lightening
Her mind is racing
to be honest, its frightening

She sits alone and thinks
or sometimes maybe she cres
Her thoughts and past
Seem to be full of lies

She covered up her feelings
Tried to hide her emotion
Her heart is heavy
Heavy with unstated commotion

Commotion that brings her uncertainty
Commotion that brings her fear
only one special person can comfort her
She only wishes he were here

But he is not, as of yet at least
So then she is forced out of the light
then forced into silent darkeness
wishing and trying with all her might

Trying to block out the pain
block out the past that haunts her
she tries so hard
but the darkness overwhelms her

It washes over her like a tidal wave
angry and fierce
refusing to get her up to breathe
leaving her drowning in her tears

she needs him
his arms to hold her in his embrace
her past,
she hopes it will erase

can anyone truly help her?
hold her? be a shoulder to cry on?
make everything okay?
Is there such a person to rely on?

Her fears are silent thunder
her emotions bolts of lightning
with him by her side
nothing can be frightening.

An Embrace
by: Brynn Gilbreath

Embrace me, hold me
Love me, show me
warmth, security, passion
hiding in the shadows
beneath the wing of your love
sweating from your breath
warm on my neck
trembling, shaking, content
soothing, protecting nurturing
a comfort in the chaos
my shield, my guard
my friend, my love
hold me close, closer
closer still
hang on to this moment
one more second together
suppress the day
make it go back to sleep
one more moment
one more touch
one more opportunity
to be held in your warm embrace.

Distant Heart-cry
by: Brynn Gilbreath

distant and incapable of reaching and making a difference
a whirlwind of emotions
conjuring up tears
and a feeling of helplessness
"it has nothing to do with you"
echos loudly in the corners of my thoughts
however the heart cries out
and longs to take on the burdens itself,
make life simpler and ease your mind
a desire to be your strength
the way you have been mine.
the desire to hold you
and share the safety that comes from being close
in mind and body and spirit and soul
and heart and emotion and all the ways of the world
defying gravity and defying odds
allowing the mundane to fall by the way-side
taking a deep breath and feeling the breeze
brush across our faces
lifting the burdens and whispering.
the setting sun and the first seen star,
a reminder that each day is valuable
right up until it says goodnight
and then the night is always too short
relish it, relish each moment
prepare for tomorrow but live for today.
